Leposaviq is the northernmost municipality in Kosovo, covering approximately 750 square kilometres in the Ibar River valley north of Mitrovicë/Mitrovica. The municipality includes 72 villages and has a population of 18,500, Kosovo Serbs constituting a large majority but small numbers of other communities also reside there. However, those remaining in the three villages are working hard to create conditions for returns and, while it is unlikely that pre-war population levels will be again realized, it is still possible for significant returns to occur. |
